You're talking to other human beings (I'd hope). Speak to your audience as you would to a close friend or family member - and make sure it's coming from a place that you feel absoultely certain about.

Message

Get straight to the goods. What's relevant to your audience?  And what can you say that will be interesting and simple enough for them to remember and act on?

Develop a Presentation Mindset that Gets You More Business: 4 Simple Steps

Wouldn't it be great if we could go into every presentation confident, comfortable and ready to kick some a$$?  Wouldn't it be amazing if that kind of thinking guaranteed more success almost every time?

Well, it's possible, and I'll tell you how.

Passion. It's about developing a mindset that cultivates passion. Nothing phony - I'm talking about generating real, authentic belief and excitement about whatever it is you're speaking about.

Why?

Because passion is contagious -- literally.  Researchers refer to it as "mood contagion".  This means that when someone is speaking with excitement, the person or audience listening is much more likely to become excited themselves.  And when we have a listening, engaged and excited audience, we have an audience that is far more likely to act on your information and advice.

So, how do you develop a mindset that ignites passion?

1.      Cultivate love for your product.

We need to understand and appreciate as many things as possible about our products. Perhaps it’s something aesthetic, the simplicity of a feature, its diversity, or even its efficiency, power or size. Whatever it is, make sure you can recite all the things that you love about it.

If possible, live the hell out of your product.  Buy it, play with it, stand next to it, get to know it. The more you love your product, the more natural and easy it is to talk about - and as a result - the more influence you have on the people listening to you. 

2.      Say what you love out loud.

Practice saying the answers above, out loud. Say them with enthusiasm and meaning just as you would to a real audience. Saying this out loud helps generate belief and gets you in a mindset of certainty and excitement. When it's time to present, your message will come out more naturally and authentically.

3.      Understand how your product, service or subject helps your audience. 

This is absolutely crucial. The presentation isn't for you - it's for your audience. The more you understand how your product or service is helping the people in front of you, the more certain and excited you will be to present to them. Simple as that.

The goal here is to get excited about how your product or service helps people, and specifically, the audience in front of you.

4.      Repeat the sentence below until you believe it.

I can't wait to tell you what I know because I know it's going to be so helpful and interesting to you.

If you can say the sentence above with certainty, your mind is in the right place. 

Remember, the more excited, certain and passionate you are about your product, the more confident, comfortable a speaker you'll be, and the more influence you will have on your audience.
